We'd just like to make things clear before any more rumours start. A message was sent out on our myspace page about this, but within a day a number of stories have been floating about, so here's what the myspace message read....
"In the late part of 2006, the officials decided to take action against Shine (For the crime of entertaining you the listeners without having a broadcasting licence). The "legal" stations don't like it that we have taken listeners away from them.. The officials raided the Shine studio on a Friday morning, and caught in the action was 2 of Shines most popular DJ's, Dynamix & Maxim.
Last week in a Magistrates court, both Dynamix and Maxim were held accountable for broadcasting (and entertaining) on the radio. They recieved a punishment that some have said to be worse than a drunk driver killing a person, or a man raping a woman"
The actual penalty served was a fine of over £2,000 and 360 hours community service. Both Dynamix and Maxim were told that, if they were caught in any radio related situation again, either during or after the community service had been served, the Magistrate would have no option other than to sentance them to 6 months in prison for each offence (of which there were 2 main offences)
They have taken the decision to leave radio as a result of this, and both of them have said that they've enjoyed every minute of entertaining the listeners, and feel gutted not to be able to do it any more, but due to the circumstances, they can't. They also said thank you to everyone that has been locked into their shows over the last few years on Shine, and also on various other stations before that.
We thought we'd set the record straight before any more stories are passed about.
Thanks for reading this.....
