RPMs whole argument is based on the fatc that it is socially acceptable to take the piss out of him being ginger/long haired/a mechanic/whatever yet the merest hint of a black/asian/white reference in general comments/jokes and people go barmy.

Here's a good one for you RPM, the post-colonial module at my uni, apparently out of 11 white girls that started, only 3 remain as the rest fo the class get so vehement on the subject.

One of the modules you can choose to study on my uni course is on colonial writings. That means works that were written when England ruled the world.

Books like Robinson Crusoe and The Jungle books are good examples. These books give a good account of what people's attitudes were to foreigners.

Often these works are now seen as racist (which criminally overlooks their cultural importance). The result is a room full of angry black/asian people moaning about whitey.

Had a similar experience last year when some divvy black bird was moaning about the need for a 'black' channel on the BBC. I asked what exactly she would be watching on a 'black' channel that she couldnt see on a 'white' channel. She couldnt think of a decent reply surprisingly enough.

Don't get me wrong...I understand that it's not only blacks to blame for the whole racism scenario to be blown out of proportion...plenty of my mates find it hard to like all ethnic groups...some don't mind blacks, but hate asians...

Now I do judge people, I admit it...I personally think we all do, it's natural and anyone who doesn't has developed a way of working against their natural instincts. In my experience, a percentage of ethnics I've met (who have foreign parents, but were British born themselves) seem to have serious issues (again not saying whites can't or don't but it's for different reasons)!!!

Why should the girl say that? Why should a black, hate a white person because of their colour? More importantly...Why should whites be made to feel bad about this being the case when quite clearly - it's open at either end of the racial spectrum. Racism works in very different ways...Like I said, a lot of my mates like blacks...but hate asians (Pakistanies/Muslims)...Is this really something I should be feeling bad about?

I guess I don't know the answer...But I know I can go to Germany and not feel hate about the war or the fact my ancestor's are mainly Jewish...So why should whites be 'made' to feel bad about the slave trade?

It makes no sense to me - probably never ever will because everyone is an individual so thusly, you can't catagorise ethnics into an entire group. My way is just to judge people on clothes, voice/accent, car, music they're into...and from a safety point of view - the way they walk.

If you see whites, blacks or asians 'bowling' it down your side of the street...you know to cross the road to avoid any confrontation - it's natural. But, if I expressed this view to some black people (possibly some white do-gooders) then it'd be considered racist?

Brings us back to these books...It's how things were in those days...Everyone has progressed since then...But, ''progressed'' too much???

Progression is a very subjective term anyways. Have we really progressed since the slave days? As I said before, everything goes in cycles. Eventually this culture will fall, and if humans survive that downfall, the cycle will begin anew.
