Mono linkbox, limiter, rds, link tx board (microwave).

Was still unfinished though, never actually finished wiring everything up, in the end I just ripped parts out of it for other projects, shame, that would have been a nice linkbox.

Ha, the first thing I ever boxed about, erm, duno, a few years ago. A T*K driver board with a Z** PLL circuit attached to it (left side of the pic). The Driver board was frequency locked with an IC so aparently it was Z** who added the little green board (same circuit as a pira.cz pllz circuit) and that could be used to change the frequency for the main driver board. Was a nice little set up that was, bought that 1w from a very nice man up in the midlands. On the right is a dodgey PSU board that a mate lent me for the project. All of it nicely boxed up in an upturned double CD rack (plastic) and held in place by lots of blue tack (but white) and bits of tape. As soon as that was boxed I was round a mates free house slappin the dipole out of the roof window.

Ahh, Those were the days.

Dont know wot the gain was on it i cant remenber but at the time we (Temptation Fm) was broardcasting on 102.4 in Dagenham(east london) ant there was a station called Galaxy on 102.5 in Peckham (south London) before we was using this we didnt hit North London but wen we switched on using this aerial we cut claen through them and was ******* them up in North. Heard Mr May had a nervous breakdown and quit a few years ago now.....he used to send people out to nick back rigs he'd sold to stations, I even heard he sold a station the same rig they originally just bought from him before his chav's got it back...........he also used to put a low rating fuse on the PA so it would pop and charge people for a new PA transistor or more!!

I've never had this misfortune but know of it happening, not good!!

yeah man ,was pretty funny to see the newspaper pic then your pic.
Like you could have had a new headline

"and this be the toerag wot did it." :)

But mateys right though man, be careful, me and my mates were setting up once when a bloke in the top floor flat threw/pushed his wife out the window!! (apparently they were junkies or something) trust me, when we got to the bottom it WAS NOT a pretty site. (teams of police were there by then too and they looked pale and sick, they really didnt care about our business)

Once youve seen a pavement pizza like that it really hits home how totally totally dead you would be if you slipped. I mean theres dead and theres falling from a tower block.. its a lot worse man.

ps I know this is a gallery thread but I think this should be left in for the chappie with the balls of steel. as ur balls will also be proper flat man, its grose. :o kind of like one of those jackson pollock paintings.

Climbing a tree without any kind of safety is damn right stupid and not worth it, atleast weekend rush/temptation fm both used safety harnesses and took precautions, ok a block might be higher but 50m is still high enough.

I know people who have been setting up on tall trees for the last 10 years but they've always taken safetly precautions. Only a fool wouldn't!!

I wouldnt agree with u there mate, exactly the one u are showing is the older version, in the 11 years ive been doin radio ive never seen that one but like u said its the older version, Bet they still work as good as the newer ones though. But most pirates of today would recognise the one i pictured as the common c&k horn, or maybe not lol who knows :)

Fair enough in your case there then bro, I gotta say myself that they are the first horns I ever saw (the one I pictured) and have had absolutely loadsa them in the past, I've only ever seen a couple like the one in your picture I have had one or two but it does seem mad that you have never seen those horns in 11 years if I've seen hundreds in the past 10, lol.

That horn shown in your picture (personally) I have only seen for like the last 5 years but Im not saying you are wrong!!

Whats the most common horn out of the 2 pictured some other users would say out of both our C n K's, Im interested to see on this tip?

must b faulty mate at the right voltage and with th right capacitor and resistor these horns will link 6 to 7 miles and with the bigger horn attached to it ie the horn u get with a alpha it will link abit further ! they r probably equally as good though.

Yeah I had a horn like yours but it was slightly yellow painted and it linked a good 3 or 4 miles no problem the only difference was the audio was very slighly lower then on the other C n K, but was still loud enough like and worked well so I'd say it must have a prob.

Personally I haven't tried it but I imagine it would work the same effect as it has with the LnB but in reverse effect, I understand it would be 35dB gain thats savage coz thats just at the one end, lol!!

theres nothing like a big flange

Big flange on the horn , dish catching your microwaves - nice.

I know that you may believe facing the horn at a concave dish would deflect it,
thus acheiving more gerth,(something that bothers us all)
but this is not so, it would simply bring it back to the horn.
As it does with the standard lnb/dish scenario , concave dish catches the microwaves (lively little buggers they are) and channels into a focal point.

This is the same as light on a concave mirror.

So when you are concentrating on your erection , remember that its all about big flanges , dont be thinking about gerth on a dish :D

djbungle2k3
07-04-2006, 08:34 PM
if you turned the dish around and then beamed the horn at it, then ud have your gerth

djbungle2k3
07-04-2006, 08:40 PM
check here for more details ,it could be that im wrong,
if you use a horn pointed at a dish, the distance of the horn away from the dish would definately determine how well it worked.

without sounding rude(im not trying to be) how can you comment if you know nothing about it?

Basically I will tell you the simple reason why you haven't heard of anyone doing it is because firstly no-one hardly even knows you can do it more to the point actually being able to do it.

Its quite a mission by the looks of it, getting it in the right place and all set up but it WILL be ALOT better once set up correctly.

Why don't sky tv just use an LnB without the dish, coz of the massive gain, and it works both ways TX and RX mate. :)

....A 100W rig for direct??``...It appears to only have an audio input connector which suggests its not used with a link. And the filtering looks poor on the PA, is that a David Bowman PA??

Yeah it is direct at the moment mate, just while i was testing the rig etc, its a Bowmans yeah.! Are these pretty shit?
I know im only getting about 90w max out of it..

Cool Cool, how comes you didn't get old Dave to sell you some Band 1 bits? ....Its never too late! ;)

....And I wouldn't nessasarily say they are shit, but don't tend to work aswell as many other designs especially where the final power output is concerned.

Heres another block about 3 miles to the West, which we really tried hard to get on but failed due to high security on the roof and the top floor partly owned by the police.

....Has anyone actually used it? Its in Addlestone, I'd be interested to hear if anyone managed to get on it before it became impossible.

beleive Face FM used to come off their as did Edge fm both on 99.7 over that last 3 years.

All so I drove passed it around 3wks ago and it can clearly be seen from the M25. Seemed to be a old stack coming off the phone mast.

But how??

....The padlocked door at the top which leads up to the roof is fully alarmed!!

Did 'Edge Fm' ever use the small red 8 storie brick blocks in Walton near the reservior?? I think I know who set that up, lol!!

Don't worry about it mate, 90watts aint too bad(for that) as they only do about an average of 100watts anyhow!!

....I wouldn't expect more then 110watts, lol!!
