I appreciate a far wider range of music than many people. Why just today Ive been playing Johnny Cash, Alf Garnett, RAM, Kniteforce and producing a few bits meself.

I find it impossible to rate dnb after around 2001. Some of that is down to me changing, some of it is due the sheer lack of musical, dancefloor dnb that I hear. Most liquid stuff isnt rowdy enough for me, and current jump up is cringeworthy in its simplicity.

u dont no wot ur on abt........there's musical aspects in all types of dnb....not just liquid..........uve only been listening to the music since 2000 or sumthing......who r u to pass judgement??????????

genocide

2000? No I started listening around 1998 (first purchase was Planet V and Clear Skies :) ). What does the amount of time spent listening have to do with anything anyways?

Who am I to pass judgement? Im me. I dont get your point? Who is anyone to pass judgement on the 'scene' then?

The problem with DnB is that it hasnt moved with the times. Anyone who doesnt subscribe to the 'its all good' mentality is branded a 'hater'. It never fails to amuse me that upfrontdjs slate me for still liking Aphrodite's output, yet they play shit like Twisted and Clipz, despite the fact Aphro outsells them both put together.

The 'musical' side of dnb has suffered as more and more subgenres emerge, something that harms every scene, just look at breaks.

Feel free to dismiss all my points and call me a cock tho :)

u no wot.i was guna gun u..............but ive had a nice big joint and can not be argue..............so instead...when the times comes we will sort this matter out face to face..............see u then

gun me about what?

do you honestly not think some of my points have validity?

dnb is a ****ed up scene in many ways. thats one of many reasons why it fares so badly compared to the likes of house etc.

instead of trying to be scarey in front of a monitor, why not actually read what Ive written and respond?

personally at the mo...i think drum n bass is at the strongest its ever been....
we've got a scene practicly in every major city in the world........and its unfair to compare it to house cause that has been around alot longer...its got like a decade on us............as for the musical aspect uve got people like shy fx and potenial badboy releasing tunes left right and centre with tons of musical appeal and there still dancefloor tearer's.....................so i would gun u about ur points bein a load of waffle.............

and as for ur bookings....u n ur mrs seemed to enjoy our sets more then any1 else in there and that was well after 2001.............

genocide
11-14-2005, 05:15 PM
lol thats better!

mate I still rate you. And I rate your sets better than your b2b partner as the impression I get is that you honestly play tunes you feel, whereas he plays upfront for the sake of it (lol I tell him often enough)

my comparison with house is over aspects such as dubplate culture and dj quality. You have people like Grooverider clanging it up for £100s a night. Its a ridiculous situation. Look at how long you guys have been labelled 'up n coming' when you are better than a lot of top jocks.

Same as a lot of newer peeps really.

u n ur mrs seemed to enjoy our sets more then any1 else in there

dunno about that bit. The long haired dude went thoroughly spazzy when you dropped pack of wolves that time.

yeah it was uncalled for, but I was too lazy to explain myself at the time. All good fun tho.

forum needs a bit of a kick to it sometimes.:)

In answer to the original post- Id say there is enough on freeze. You got a dnb show every weekend night (heard a wikkid show from fashion and someone on the way home friday night). More shows you have, the more diluted things can become.

dont really want the whole dnb thing to just merge into one, nice to have a few clued up people providing a good show.

davep
11-14-2005, 06:38 PM
yea..but theres only 1 show on there at the mo...........hence the reason 4 the post
